Australian multi-instrumentalist Xavier Rudd is set to play Dublin’s Academy on 02 December 2010 as part of his European tour. Celebrating the release of his latest album Koonyum Sun, Rudd is joined by two new band members, Bassist Tio Moloantoa and Drummer Andile Nqubezelo (both from reggae backgrounds), they have become collectively known as Xavier Rudd & Izintaba. Vocally Rudd works well on his own but on stage surrounded by musicians and even more instruments Rudd has created a whole new musical experience for himself and his fans and it’s wonderful.
Overall there’s a very different energy to his latest album, but that’s how Rudd rolls, each album grows and moves with him on his journey. After getting a taste for his new sound at a show in Manchester at the beginning of the year, and having spent the year touring together I can only imagine how much tighter the show and it’s musicians have become.
