Fresh out of 301 Studios in Byron Bay Australia where Xavier just finished up his latest record “Koonyum Sun”, he is hitting the road again with a new line up and sound.
During the summer of 2008 while touring in Europe, Xavier had an amazing unifying experience with some fellow musicians from South Africa. Bassist Tio Moloantoa and Drummer Andile Nqubezelo who had formerly played with South African reggae legend the late Lucky Dube.
The three formed a spiritual connection that extended beyond their musical respect for each other. A relationship, that like their musical tastes, reflects a passion for unifying culture, sound and understanding. This connection has become,
Xavier Rudd and Izintaba.
Xavier has this to share about his experience.
“Playing with Tio and Andile is the most inspirational music experience I’ve had to date. Izintaba is the Zulu word for mountains. I chose this because when I am with the guys in spirit, musically and emotionally, I feel like I’m standing on top of a great mountain.
My life has taken a turn in many ways and I feel a new energy around the great gift of what I do. I’m more ready than ever to play music and I’m very proud of Koonyum Sun. Can’t wait to groove with you”
“Koonyum Sun” will be released to the World in April 2010. Pre order details coming soon.
