A line-up of 65 Irish and international stars were announced for the Vodafone Comedy Festival, which will run 26-29 of July in Dublin city centre’s Iveagh Gardens.
The international line-up for this year features “Man of 10,000 Voices” and Police Academy Star, Michael Winslow; Reginald D Hunter; Pub Landlord, Al Murray; Edinburgh Fringe winner & stand up poet Tim Key and several Irish (and European) debuts including the Buddha of Comedy Eddie Pepitone, Kyle Kinane, Kumail Nanjiani and Aussie duo Sammy J & Randy. Returning following last year’s success will be multiple award winning one-liner Milton Jones, Argumental team captain Seann Walsh and Reggie Watts.
The festival boasts a fantastic line up of Irish comedy genius with Tommy Tiernan, Jason Byrne, PJ Gallagher, Ardal O’Hanlon, David O’Doherty, Neil Delamere, The Nualas, David McSavage, Kevin McAleer, Barry Murphy and Dead Cat Bounce. There are also many new challengers to the throne, including Republic of Telly’s Bernard O’Shea, Fred Cooke, Jarlath Regan, Eric Lalor, Eleanor Tiernan and Foil Arms and Hog, as well as the Dublin premier of Colm O’Regan’s ‘Ireland’s Got Mammies’. Aidan Bishop will once again host a showcase of all that is wonderful about the International Comedy Club.
Other international acts include Canadian Tom Stade, South African Trevor Noah (currently championed by Eddie Izzard) and US comedienne Natasha Leggero. The international line-up is completed by some of the stars of the UK comedy scene including Alex Horne, 8 out of 10 Cats’ Josh Widdicombe, Jay Foreman, who stormed Vicar St recently as support to Dave O’Gorman, and hip-hop improvisation act Abandoman. Over 20,000 people will attend the festival with performances in four venues in Iveagh Gardens. The festival also has street performers, live music and gourmet food and drinks.
