It maybe because the skies are blue (ignoring the freezing temperatures!) but we think it’s time to get thinking about festival season again, and apparently so do Vantastival! Today the campervan friendly festival announced their line-up for their second annual outing.
Duke Special, Wallis Bird, Donal Dineen and recent Youtube sensation Jamie Lawson are set to headline Vantastival 2011, which will take place in County Louth over the May bank holiday weekend. (Last year’s headline Kila pictured). Choice Music Prize nominees The Cast of Cheers are also on the bill for the festival, which was launched on Saturday to a packed house in The Complex in Smithfield.
With three stages of live music and entertainment hosting up to 70 acts over the course of the weekend and a range of activities focusing on the campervan lifestyle Vantastival 2011 is certainly worthy of inclusion on everybody’s festival calendar. Vantastival earned great praise last year for its endorsement of the Irish music scene and a huge number of unsigned acts are on the line-up. Some, like Miracle Bell, The Riptide Movement, The Hot Sprockets and Sounds of System Breakdown, appeared at the inaugural event last year and are making a welcome return, while a host of new acts will also perform. We Cut Corners and Windings will appear fresh from their Certain Three tour, and will be joined by Bipolar Empire, King Kong Club winners The Cujo Family, and many many more.
Vantastival is a family-friendly event and has a full range of children’s entertainment and activities and a dedicated family camping area. The festival runs from Friday 29 April to Sunday 1 May and ticket prices are €85 for three nights camping, with €40 day tickets available, €30 entry for 14-17 year olds and free entry for children under 14. A limited number of earlybird weekend tickets are now on sale for €70. Campervans are welcome to park on site at no extra charge.
