Ahead of the release of their highly anticipated new album, Beacon, Two Door Cinema Club have announced a show to showcase the new record at The Academy on Friday 07 September 2012.
The announcement of the release of the bands sophomore album, entitled Beacon – out 31 August 2012 – was followed by news that the first single from the record would be available free to fans for a limited time. Sleep Alone, driven forward by a pounding backbeat and Sam Halliday’s subtle, intricate guitar work, showcases Two Door Cinema Club at their very best.
Following their headline slot on February’s NME Awards Tour, the band, Alex Trimble, Kevin Baird and Sam Halliday, travelled to LA in April to record the album with acclaimed producer Jacknife Lee (Bloc Party, U2, REM) in his home studios. The result is a bold statement of intent – an ambitious and heartfelt selection of tracks showcasing a stunning depth of songwriting and a broader, maturer sound.
“Beacon is a much more intimate record than our first, but at the same time, it’s much bigger and more inclusive. Trying to find that balance has been our goal for a long time and this record takes us one step closer to the band we’ve dreamt of becoming.”
“Working with Jacknife Lee was a joy and a pleasure. He shared our goals and played a huge part in putting the pieces together in the right way. This is an exciting time for us and we can’t wait to share the songs with everyone.”, said Alex Trimble.
Last week Alex performed at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London, a TV broadcast watched by 27 million people in the UK alone.
Tickets €20 including booking fee are on sale this Friday 03 August at 9am from Ticketmaster.
