- WALL-E and EVE holding hands.
In cinemas this Friday 10 February, The Vow. Based on the true story of a newlywed couple recovering from an accident that puts the wife in a coma. She wakes up with severe memory loss and can’t remember any of her life with her new husband…so he makes romantic gesture after gesture to win her back. We decided to take a look at some of our favourite romantic moments and gestures from the big screen, with an honorary mention going to Tramp, for giving Lady his last meatball. What a gent.
5. The Princess Bride – “As you wish”
“A classic fairy tale, with swordplay, giants, an evil prince, a beautiful princess, and yes, some kissing.” After fighting to win her back and defend her honor from Prince Humperdinck, Wesley and Buttercup are reunited. Buttercup mistakenly pushes her love down the hill before she realises it’s him behind the mask. But Wesley stays true to his chivalrous ways yelling “As you wish” as he tumbles down the hill.
4. Brokeback Mountain – “I wish I knew how to quit you”
After keeping their relationship a secret for nearly twenty years, star crossed lovers Jack and Ennis meet up to go their separate ways. Jack’s support for Ennis throughout is gallant, and this scene reveals their vulnerability and love for each other.
3. Benny + Joon – “Pendulum”
Despite the misgivings of pretty much everybody, Sam and Joon want to move in together. So Sam decides to show her how he feels. Some timing by Sam.
2. Wall-E – “Final scene”
WALL-E is hurt and we all think he’s dead, until EVE comes to the rescue, fixing him. But all is not well when WALL-E doesn’t remember her. But EVE fights for her man.
1. Buffalo 66 – “Hot chocolate”
Despite their unusual circumstances Layla falls for Billy, and Billy’s not so bad in this scene either. {Watch clip}
