Following a massively successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Owen O’Neill and Dave John’s adaptation of The Shawshank Redemption returns for five performances only from Friday 06 to Sunday 08 September.
With a powerful cast including Omid Djalili, Kyle Secor, Terry Alderton and Joe Rooney, this is a theatrical experience not to be missed, bringing together a sizzling fusion of both seasoned stage actors and well-known stand up comedians, directed by acclaimed RSC director Lucy Pitman Wallace. This production with its six-figure budget will make full use of The Gaiety Theatre with stunning sets recreating the prison environment, and sumptuous stage and costume designs by Gary McCann, and lighting by Kevin Treacy.
Based on the legendary movie of the same name, The Shawshank Redemption tells the story of Andy Dufresne, given two life sentences for the murder of his wife and her lover; a crime of which he was innocent. Condemned to the Shawshank Penitentiary, Andy exacts his revenge on those who have tried to destroy him and gives hope to those who believed in him. The Shawshank Redemption is the powerful uplifting story of one man’s incredible self belief, indomitable spirit and long struggle for freedom. As Andy says, “you have two options – get busy living or get busy dying”.
Tickets start from €24.50 and go on sale this Friday from 9AM.
