According to former Stone Roses bassist Gary ‘ Mani ‘ Mounfield, this LP is the best since the first Stone Roses first album. While this may not be the case, it is however the best album the Liverpool band has released since their debut LP ‘The Coral’.
Butterfly House mixes the bands psychedelic folk style with a rich droney sound that adds certain sophistication to the new work. The change in style is evident from the lack of any hectic or low- fidelity songs, such as ‘Skeleton Key’ as that has been replaced by a smooth and more professional tone. This may be thanks to Producer John Leckie who has produced Radiohead’s The Bends, The Stone Roses self-titled debut album and many others.
Without any ‘Dreaming of You’ type of hits it seems this album may not achieve mainstream success but will be remembered by those Indie lovers as a classic. So after a struggle since their first release in 2002, it seems The Coral are dragging themselves back to the top of the music scene with this flawless piece of work.
