RTÉ Storyland hold open auditions

‘Cuckoo’ is a brand-new psychological thriller in four parts, written by Nikki Racklin and Danann Breathnach, commissioned by RTÉ for its online drama series, Storyland.

On Saturday 26 November 2011, from 11am-6pm, Zanzibar Films will be hosting an open audition at The International Bar, Wicklow st, Dublin, to find the star of ‘Cuckoo’ – the actress who will portray troubled red-haired teen Niamh Keegan. The casting panel will include well-known faces such as Writer/Director Danann Breathnach (of MTV/Hollyoaks fame) and Aidan Power (from 98fm/RTÉ’s The Café).

Niamh Keegan is a delicate Celtic beauty with copper hair and glasses. She is bored, restless and feels – has always felt – that she doesn’t belong in her family. Casting the right actress to play Niamh is crucial.

Other roles being cast include Maureen Keegan (52), a buxom, motherly brunette harbouring a secret; Brendan Keegan (54), a quiet family man with an excruciating sense of humour and an unexpected ‘Alpha Male’ side; Tina Vickers (37), a brassy, rough redhead who knows how to turn on the charm but is not above a bar-room brawl; and Sarah McCarthy (17), Niamh’s mischievous partner-in-crime.

The first episode of ‘Cuckoo’ will be broadcast on 13 February 2012 on RTÉ’s You Tube site. Public voting will begin the same day on the RTÉ Storyland Facebook page.
