Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero have been playing guitar together for more than seventeen years. From their first steps as teenage thrash metallurgists in their native Mexico City, through their busking days on Dublin’s Grafton Street, to the universally acclaimed, million album selling, globe straddling tour machine of the 21st century. Ireland have embraced them as our own. The duo will take to the stage at Marlay Park on July 31st.
Their last studio album 11:11 saw the duo develop their core sound into something more sophisticated, intricate and varied. Their first fully self-written and produced album, 11:11 was released to universal critical acclaim and was toured to rapturous audience feedback. Rod & Gab have recently collaborated with Hollywood soundtrack maestro Hans Zimmer on the score of Disney’s ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides; which will be released worldwide in May.
Seasick Steve, talented storyteller turned bluesman, will join Rodrigo Y Gabriela @ The Park this summer. His interesting life has led to him tell a whole host of stories through his music. His debut solo record, Doghouse Music, released in 2006 hit the UK charts at #2 on its release. He may refer to himself as “a song and dance man,” but American blues musician Seasick Steve is indisputably a living legend.
His latest album, You Can’t Teach An Old Dog New Tricks, is released this May. The twelve-track album, recorded through the fall of 2010, was produced by The Dog hisself (Seasick Steve) and Henry James Wold and mixed by Vance Powell at Air Studios Studios in London.
Rodrigo Y Gabriela will perform under canvas with very special guest Seasick Steve at Marlay Park this summer. Tickets priced €39.20 (standing) with limited tiered seating available at €44.20 are on sale on Friday 8th April at 9am.
