Q & A with Hands Up Who Wants To Die

The rather excellently named ‘Hands Up Who Wants To Die’ are yet another band from the Richter Collective label and will, of course, be playing Le Chéile this Saturday. We spoke with singer Barry, he’s got quite a way with words…

So Le Cheile on Saturday with the rest of the Richter acts, what can we expect?
You will get 8 high calibre bands gracing the stage to bring music that will make you dance, laugh, cry and lose your mind …..also you will hear some new tunes from some of the acts. This will also be a landmark in Richter activities during the year and is recommend for anyone looking to get of the city and invade Oldcastle .

HUWWTD (is the abbreviation ok?!) have a 10″ out, ‘I’ll Eat Your Face’ (great title) anymore releases planned in the near future?
Yeah we have just finished demoing our new album which will feature 9 new slabs of new noise rock plus two old songs , we did the demo’s in the depths of a warehouse off Thomas Street just outside the walls of Dublin metropolis with the legend that is Steve Caffrey . We are going to be recording the album in Frankfurt , Germany at the end of August this chapter in the book of ‘Hands Up..’ shall see the light of day in October and will be our debut album.

You’ve been relatively quiet gig-wise lately any plans for a tour?
Yeah well we have been locked away constructed rhythmic rhymes and rabbles for the new album . We recently played Curfew festival in Belfast and are gearing up to unleash the new tunes on the unsuspecting masses of Oldcastle. We also have one more Dublin gig before we cast our ship to the oceans to sail to Germany, that’ll be in Twisted Pepper Dublin on Saturday August 14th with 70′s rock and roll riffers “Realistic Train” and toxic grime merchant “Antrophe” . Upon our return we shall be touring with a few suprises planned .

For someone that hasn’t been to a HUWWTD (fuck it, I’m sticking with the abbreviation, I like it) gig, what can they expect?
It’s a cacophony of rhythmic madness with a henchman that will engage the unbelievers as a wall of riffs and power takes hold of your throat . This is just a taste http://vimeo.com/10958160

The most commonly asked question ever but here goes; What are your biggest influences?
The laughter of fortunatos last cries behind concrete [Kevin copies and Googles this phrase then shrugs his shoulders in confused resignation]
