Is everyone getting a tiny bit bored of the same generic lineups and festival routines – do you ever feel like it’s a case of same line up, different year? Intimate and interesting are phrases that are often thrown around, but Openear are putting their best laid plans forward with a festival that’s going to get the balance marvelously right.
Openear Festival takes place on Sherkin Island, West Cork this June bank holiday weekend, promising ‘a weekend of the best experimental music Ireland has to offer (and the occasional dance floor banger)’ #sold
Their roll call includes Sunken Foal, Toby Kaar, Lumigraph, Sias, Ellll, Kenny Hanlon, La Beaute, Niamh De Barra,Spaces,Donal Dineen, T-Woc, Cholera House, Dublin mixtape collective wherethetimegoes and oh so many more.
Inspired by overseas experiences, Openear want to open hearts and minds – focussing on live performances from an abundance of Irish electronic talent.
Friday and Saturday shenanigans take place in Sherkin North Shore Guesthouse, while Sunday everyone will hightail to the jovial sounding Jolly Rodger pub for an extra special wind down. Who can turn down Sunday pints, a fanciful feed and jubilant dancing well into the night.
Openear are adding to the pixie magic promising BYOB, loads of toilets (way hey..), plenty accommodation options for every wallet and preference, as well as salty Atlantic Sea views.
