Over 25 world class creatives will be presenting their ideas and work as the third annual OFFSET returns this March. This years line up is looking pretty good with design greats such as Niall Sweeney & Nigel Truswell of Pony, the influential Shepard Fairey, self proclaimed life artist Stefan Sagmeister and the Irish representation at last night’s Grammys Johnny Kelly.
Over 3 days, 24 animators, designers, illustrators, advertisers, artists, photographers and more will speak about their work, their ideas and inspirations and give insight into their practices and personal perspectives on their own careers. These speakers have created some of the most iconic and recognisable images that the world has ever seen – e.g. the iconic Obama HOPE poster that may be one of the defining visuals of our generation (Shepard Fairey) and the groundbreaking Decoded campaign for Jay-Z’s autobiography (Andrew Essex). Click the speakers name below for more information.
The intimate surroundings of the Second Room will allow visitors to get a little closer to some of the legendary speakers, who will give interviews, contribute to debates and take part in group discussions on the topics that are at the heart of the creative agenda. There will also be opportunities for attendees to get involved and get creating too. A lunchtime cinema will feature animations, short films and documentaries and the theatre’s front of house will become a book and merchandise store.
The Irish creative team behind OFFSET is designer Richard Seabrooke, artist and designer Peter O’Dwyer and illustrator Bren Byrne.
“We select speakers that reflect our many interests. We don’t want it to feel like an industry conference – it’s more about the creative process and getting great people together in a room. We select people we have the utmost respect for and we would love to spend time with – those whose work inspires us and gets us excited about our own working lives. Insiders compare OFFSET to a young TED, with its non hierarchical, cross-disciplinary range of creative speakers. It’s our personal connections with the hottest young creative worldwide and our passion for all forms of creativity that’s the underlying key to the success of OFFSET”.
OFFSET 09-11 March 2012 at The Grand Canal Theatre, Dublin.
