We’re massive fans of Avatar Korra and her predecessor Avatar Aang. So when we heard the show runners from both were involved in this latest announcement from Netflix, we got very excited. The original series ‘Voltron Legendary Defender’ reimagines the popular fan-favourite show in this all-new comedic action-packed show from ex-Avatar crew Joaquim Dos Santos as executive producer and co-executive producer Lauren Montgomery. Both artists have an amazing list of shows behind them, not just the wonderous world of bending elements. Lauren’s talent is incredible and she has done some really amazing work with Warner and DC (check it out here on Bryan Konietzko’s blog).
Voltron Legendary Defender premiers on Netflix on 10 June 2016. The show will kick off with an hour-long origin story, followed by 10 episodes. But the good news doesn’t stop there. The voice cast includes Steven Yeun (Glen from The Walking Dead), Jeremy Shada (voices Finn in Adventure Time), Bex Taylor-Klaus (Roy’s mate Sin from Arrow) andKimberly Brooks (Mass Effect’s Ashley Williams and a slew of other video games).
The premise; five unsuspecting teenagers, transported from Earth into the middle of a sprawling intergalactic war, become pilots for five robotic lions in the battle to protect the universe from evil. Only through the true power of teamwork can they unite to form the mighty warrior known as Voltron Legendary Defender.
