On Saturday April 2nd, Navan RFC will attempt to be the first Irish rugby club to break the Guinness World Record for the most consecutive rugby ball passes.
The current world record stands at 279 and was set in an event organized by Hybu Pobl Ifanc and the Newport Gwent Dragons at the Dragons’ playing ground in Newport, United Kingdom, on 7 August 2010. All passes were backward, legal as per the rules of rugby, and each travelled a minimum of 5 m (16 ft 4 in) to their recipient.
Navan RFC are looking for 320 volunteers to take part on the day which is part of their annual fundraising day for Breast Cancer Awareness. Participants are asked to make a donation on the day to take part in this fun event for a great cause. The record attempt will start in Balreask Old at 12:30 (with registration at 12:00 sharp!). Breast cancer awareness t-shirts (one XL size to fit all!) will be provided for all, courtesy of the Irish Cancer Society.
