Johnny Flynn / Been Listening

Difficult-second-album syndrome is something all new artists must worry about but thankfully Johnny Flynn, emerging from London and accompanied by band The Sussex Wit, does not disappoint with his latest release. Labelled “the next poster boy’’ of the nu-folk scene, Flynn is probably the least commercially successful of them. However, Been Listening has the potential to change all that. The album moves away from his self proclaimed punktry, punk and country, sound to more of a bluesy and country sound. (Possibly bluntry?)

Following the first single ‘Kentucky Pill’ BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe was so impressed he immediately labeled it his hottest record in the world. The tracks following such as ‘The Water’ (featuring Laura Marling) and ‘Been Listening’ which features a powerful blues riff , prove how correct Lowe is.

Flynn has added Irish dates this November 19th and 21st in Dublin and Cork.
