Jerry Fish & The Mudbug Club / The Beautiful Untrue
à la New York Jazz Club, Jerry Fish & The Mudbug Club emerge with their second album “The Beautiful Untrue”. It’s the kind of album that just gets you on the first listen. Songs like “Life Is Sweet” and the new single “Back To Before” are absolutely delightful. It’s upbeat grooves on songs like “Dig, A Dog & Bone Story” are refreshing in their jazzy, blues sound.
All perfectly mixed with the rumbling lyrics of Fish, you can’t help but smile your way through this album. “Summer of Love” has a groove that is Moondance-esque. There is a distinctive Leonard Cohen / “Tarantino Collection” feel when you listen to the album, especially with songs like “It Takes Balls To Be A Butterfly”. There is also a wonderful duet with Irish rockabilly queen Imelda May on “Hell Or Heaven Sent”. The perfect fit. TK
