Adam Sandler, Seth Rogan
Normally I avoid films starring Adam Sandler. But Seth Rogan, Jonah Hill and Judd Apatow seem to be on a roll with movies like Knocked Up and 40-Year Old Virgin and Superbad. Comedian George Simmons (Sandler) discovers he has a terminal illness and takes Ira Wright (Rogan) under his comedic wing and the two become friends. As the movie progresses George finds out that he has beaten his illness (don’t worry I haven’t ruined it) and starts to see life in a whole new light, as one would.
It’s a long movie though, 2 hours and 26 minutes, similar to Inglourious Basterds and you can’t maintain interest that long, there is the inevitable lull towards the end. The first two-thirds is much funnier than the final scenes. It’s aiming at the same audiences as the aforementioned movies but the length of the movie and the lack of laughs towards the ends sends it slightly off mark.
