With 4 months to go Electric Picnic have announced four new acts to the 2010 line up. Eels, Friendly Fires, Laurent Garnier, The Fall, Bonobo’s, Stornoway, Fight Like Apes and Channel One.
Eels released their eighth studio album, End Times, this year to top off over a decades worth of music with a back catalogue that includes Novocaine for the Soul and Susan’s House.
Three piece Friendly Fires will be bringing their spectacularly energetic live show to Electric Picnic along with their eagerly anticipated second album. Frances’ undisputed king of eclecticism Laurent Garnier makes a triumphant return to Stradbally with his latest album !Tales of a Kleptomaniac.
Mark E Smith’s The Fall released their 28th album last week and they follow on from a storming Dublin show last Thursday with a return to Stradbally.
Downtempo Ninja Tunes’ act Bonobo will make their first ever Irish appearance at Electric Picnic with an eight piece band.
Since the release of their first official single the Oxford five piece STORNOWAY have found themselves shortlisted for BBC’s Sound of 2010 poll, played a sold out UK tour and appeared on Later With Jools Holland and declared The Guardians “new favourite band”. Crafting hearty folk using banjos, violins and brass they are due to release their debut later in the year, having just signed to 4AD their debut album is Expect to be wooed by these creator of folk tinged pop.
Fight Like Apes will be performing tracks from their on their upcoming second album which will be released the week of EP. The forthcoming album is set to follow in the success of their debut album ‘Fight Like Apes And The Mystery Of The Golden Medallion’.
The Dublin quartet Channel One debut ‘Sound to Light’ successfully earned them the title of Ireland’s premier techno rockers. With layers of guitar, krautrock rhythms, electronica and the driving, hypnotic wall of noise have built their live reputation.
