Dublin Gospel Choir have shared the stage with music big shots such as Rod Stewart, John Legend, James Brown and The Chieftains. From modest beginnings as a local school choir in inner city Dublin 12 years ago, they have become a household name in Ireland, playing a host of concerts each year, plus a large number of corporate and charity events. They also have an annual slot at our beloved Electric Picnic and actually played the main stage this year.
The choir also featured along with Chris de Burgh on a special BBC Songs of Praise programme which was broadcast to over 35million viewers worldwide. Whereas the religious audience is one target market for them, the Dublin Gospel Choir seems to have broad appeal. They collaborated with well-known Irish singer Paddy Casey for Today FM’s Even Better than the Real Thing CD and went on to tour with Paddy. This won them a much younger audience. They were also invited by Rod Stewart to join him for two great nights at the RDS in Summer 07.
Dublin Gospel Choir play Tripod in Harcourt St., Dublin on Saturday November 7th. The show will feature the 30-piece choir perform brand new material as well as the traditional gospel tracks from their debut album ‘Moving On’ which featured songs like “There’s something inside so strong”, “Oh Happy Day” and “Swing Low Sweet Chariot”. Apart from 2009 tour dates, the Dublin Gospel Choir are next set to release their live album, recorded at the Pavilion Theatre, Dun Laoghaire to a packed audience.
