Dizzee Rascal / Tongue N’ Cheek

voxpop-dizzee-rascal-tongue-n-cheekWith 3 consecutive number one singles under his belt Dylan Mills can afford to ignore those that say he’s sold out. They’re not wrong though, Tongue N’ Cheek is unashamedly mainstream and upbeat.

The lyrics rarely show the inventiveness or insight of his earlier albums and the beats seem to be designed with ringtone downloads in mind. But that doesn’t mean it’s a bad album. Mainstream doesn’t always mean bland and the sheer cheeky confidence of Rascal’s lyrics mean his blatant commercial aspirations can be forgiven.
