Cello duo Luk Sulic and Stjepan Hauser announced for Westport 2014


Cello duo Luk Sulic and Stjepan Hauser found (internet) fame in 2011 with their cover of Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal became a YouTube hit. Listen below:

Their version of AC / DC’s Thunderstruck is pretty rad too.

They are performing at Westport Festival of Music & Food on Saturday, 28 June. Other acts lined up for this years main stage include Kool and The Gang, Sinead O’Connor, David Grey and Clew Bay Pipe Band. Bell X1, The Divine Comedy and more will play the Marquee Stage and Little Green Cars, The Cast Of Cheers, Enemies, Lisa O’Neil, Tvvins and a tonne more great Irish acts will take to the Roisin Dubh Stage. The comedy tent will host acts like Terry Alderton, Ardal O’Hanlon, David McSavage, Rich Hall, Foil Arms & Hog, Fred Cooke and Howard Read. See the full line up here.

The food promises to be a highlight this year with gastronomic treats from Rachel Allen, Clodagh McKenna, Darina Allen as well as Ross Lewis (Chapter One), Derry Clarke (L’Ecrivain), Noel McMeel (Lough Erne Resort), Neven Maguire (MacNean House), Seamus Commons (Knockranny House, Westport) and Frankie Mallon (An Port Mor, Westport) all preparing delicious dishes using locally produced, seasonal ingredients from Mayo and surrounding areas in The Chef’s Kitchen, which will be located in the Food & Wine Magazine Village.

There’s lots of accomodation around Westport town and Westport House also has campsite with hot showers and real toilets. You’ll be sleeping in the surrounds of ancient trees with Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay in the background. The campsite is a short walk from the festival and a 10-minute walk into Westport town. Onsite Facilities include: Free hot showers, electrics (limited numbers so allocated on a first come-first served basis), WiFi, recycling, picnic & washing up areas. Adult day tickets (non-camping) are €76 and weekend tickets are €131. Children 12 years or younger go free – up to two per paying adult. 13 – 16 year olds can purchase a teen ticket for €41 for a day ticket and €61 for a weekend ticket, both non-camping. Teen tickets apply to children 13-16 years – they must be accompanied by a paying adult.
