Fraser McGowan’s latest Caught In The Wake Forever EP is a series of seven ambient droning pieces. At times (#1 & #6) it is almost mechanical in its sound. Track #2 features electric guitar, piano and what sounds like a Geiger counter to interesting effect. Track #4 blends migraine-inducing high pitched hissing with keyboards, while #5 is the hardest thing to pin down here, coming across as a bewildering mish-mash of sounds. The gently pulsating #6 is the longest and probably the most successful thing here. It’s available from Soft Corridor Records.
