Beamish and Cork celebrate 30 years

John Spillane BeamishThe 30th annual Beamish Cork Folk Festival kicks off on Thursday 1st October and runs until Sunday 4th of October 2009 at some of Cork City’s favourite pubs and showcases over 5,000 of the world’s best folk musicians and dancers.

This year’s folk spectacular will be bigger than ever featuring international and home-grown talent including Micheál Ó’Sύilleaháin, Mercury Music Prize winner Talvin Singh, Frankie Gavin, De Dannan and a premiere of new composition commissioned by Lyric FM and the arts council.
According to Thomas Brady, Brand Manager for Stout “The Beamish Folk Festival is a fantastic event showcasing a bright spectrum of local talent and more. With the festival in its 30th year Beamish is particularly proud to continue to celebrate and support the folk music tradition in Cork and all of Ireland.”
