A fictional conversation
Let’s do some word association, basically I’ll say a word or phrase and you say anything that comes to mind. OK? Arcade Fire.
Oh great band, one of my favourites
Arcade Fire songs?
Em…’Wake Up’, fantastic song.
OK anything else?
Er.. they released ‘Funeral’ and er..’Neon Bible’..two albums, I think
Correct! Any other songs you like?
Er yeah the one about cars?
‘Keep the Car Running’ or ‘No Cars Go’?
Er..both, I liked them both, great songs.
Anything else you liked on the album?
Em..yeah..I just can’t think of the names..
But you said they are one of your favourite bands?
Yeah they are, well they’re great live
Oh so you saw them at Oxegen?
…no…
So where did you see them?
Well I haven’t actually seen them live, but I’ve heard..
Admit it please, you’re not that into them, in fact you think most of their stuff sounds the same. You like them cause they have a cool name and namechecking them is an quick way to show you have some knowledge of music
No, that’s not true!
Come on…
OK, I suppose there’s some element of truth in that.
Thank you, so you going to get their new album Suburbs?
Yeah, probably.
I wouldn’t, everything on it sounds fairly bland and there’s not even a standout song to lift it up.
Oh cheers for the heads up, won’t bother getting it so.
No problem, that’s what meg.ie is for.

So is meg trying to tell us that, despite a through review of the the actual album that we shouldnt buy this album. What a load of nonsense and shame on the reviewer for producing this one way review. Clearly only listened to the album once and giving it little time if any.
